Between 20 December 2018 and 31 December 2019, the project "Joint efforts in the strengthening the capacities of the national preventive mechanism and in the on preventing and combating torture and ill-treatment in Moldova, through training and sharing experience of RCTV Memoria ", is being implemented by the RCTV “Memoria”.
The project is funded by the OPCAT Special Fund and the aim of this project is:
To contribute to better prevention of torture in Moldova through strengthening the National Preventive Mechanism, increasing its capacity, cooperation, independence and enhancing the visibility of the performed activities.
The objectives of the project are:
1. To increase the effectiveness, knowledge, and skills of NPM' staff in the identification, documentation (according to the Istanbul Protocol) during the performed visits and individual interviews with a person in custody, taking into account a victim-centered and trauma-centered approach; 2. To increase the visibility and transparency in the functioning of the NMP, by organizing campaigns and training for workers of relevant state institutions, where people are in custody.The target group of the project is:
- NPM staff and employees of the Ombudsman Office;
- Employees from: penitentiaries, police, carabineer troops, migration and asylum, mental health and other medical facilities, probation and other relevant state institutions;
- Representatives of ministries, relevant state institutions, other HR NGO’s, mass-media, whole society.
