Our beneficiaries
We provide complex medical and social assistance to all people who can be considered victims of torture, regardless of nationality, age, gender, political orientation, or residence.
Eligibility criteria
Assistance is given according to Article 1 of the UN Convention against Torture (UN CAT). Upon registration, eligible persons present documents confirming their status from competent bodies, including local public administration, rehabilitation certificates, or documents from NGOs and state institutions.
Survivors of Political Repression
Persecuted, abused, and subjected to various forms of physical and psychological torture during the Soviet period. This group is essential for documenting the medical and psychological consequences of different forms of torture and the impact of trauma on personal, family, social, and political life. This experience helps us plan more effective assistance for recent victims.
Recent Victims of Torture
Survivors of violence and inhuman/degrading treatment in detention facilities, including people who suffered during the events of April 2009. This group requires special attention to improve their current health status and prevent the belated consequences of trauma.
Refugees and Asylum Seekers
Torture victims among refugees and asylum seekers in Moldova. This allows us to analyze torture phenomena at regional and global levels through political, religious, cultural, medical, social, and psychological aspects. Countries of origin include Turkey, Cote d'Ivoire, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Palestine, and others.
Gender-Based Violence Victims
Victims of gender-based violence and their families who have sought help through partner organizations such as Casa Marioarei, Promo-LEX, Human Rights Embassy, and public lawyers. We provide complex assistance with individual programs and case documentation using the Istanbul Protocol to support them in courts.
Within available resources and if necessary, second-degree victims (close relatives of survivors) are also assisted.
